We will ensure benefits, entitlements of retirees are processed with diligence – Solicitor-General

By Ebere Agozie

The Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mrs Beatrice Jedi-Agba says the ministry will ensure benefits, entitlements of retirees are processed with diligence.

Jedi-Agba said this at the send-forth ceremony held in honour of the year 2025 retirees of the Ministry on Wednesday in Abuja.

She assured of the ministry’s readiness to continue collaboration with relevant institutions to ensure that retirement benefits and entitlements are processed with diligence, transparency, and respect for the rights of our retirees.

The perm sec reiterated that those who laboured in service for the nation deserve to be appreciated, respected, and celebrated.

She said the ceremony reflected the ministry’s enduring commitment to recognising and honouring faithful service in line with the principles of good governance and humane administration.

“Your careers exemplified the core values of the public service which include discipline, integrity, loyalty, professionalism, and patriotism through policy formulation, programme implementation, institutional reforms, among others.

“We are here to acknowledge decades of selfless service, dedication, and commitment rendered by officers who devoted the best years of their lives to the service of the nation

“As we all know, retirement is not an end to someone’s career or profession, but a transition into a new phase of life, one that offers opportunities for rest, personal fulfillment, and continued contribution to society in different capacities.’’

She said that although they may have formally exited active service, their experience, wisdom, and counsel remain invaluable to the public service and the nation at large.

“Our dear retirees, your services have written your names in the institutional history of this ministry and in the broader narrative of Nigeria’s public service.

“Your immense contributions to the nation will not be forgotten,” she added.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of gifts to the retirees in appreciation for their dedicated and selfless service to the nation.
