The Bayelsa State Bureau chief of Daily Watch Newspaper, a regional tabloid, Prince Ekaunkumo Amgbare has aid that some unknown persons tried to assassinate him on Friday night in Yenagoa.
Amgbare told the Newsmen on Saturday that the attempt on his life took place at about 8:30pm on Friday.
According to the Bayelsa based journalist, at about 8:30pm on Friday night some unidentified hoodlums numbering no fewer than five persons, threatened to assassinate me along Punch Road, Amarata.
“They eventually succeeded in looting my household and other neighbours valuable items along in the attacks on us,” he said.
Amgbare, who doubled as Chairman Vigilante Group in Amarata, narrated that the gunmen came to his house with the sole aim to assassinate him.
“As they met my absence. they started robbing other occupants in the area,” he said.
He said, this was the third time gunmen had attempted to assassinate him at his resident due to the security work he was doing to protect lives and properties of individuals in the area.
The Journalist, called on the Nigeria Police Force(NPF) and sister security agencies to come to his aid as his life and and that of his family is in the danger list of the cultists and promoters of crime and criminality in the area.
His words: “On Friday night at about 8:30pm hoodlums came to my residence asking my whereabouts, I was not at home, so they pointed their guns at my aged mother, and girlfriend before carting away cell phones and money.
“They equally entered my neighbours’ houses and took their smart phones, money and other valuables.
“This is the third time they have come to my house to assassinate me. I have not offended anybody, they are after my life because I am the chairman of vigilante group on Punch Road, Amarata.
I was not around when they came yesterday.
“I want to use this opportunity to call on the general public, the Nigeria Police Force and her sister security agencies to intensify efforts in apprehending the culprits because my life and my family is not safe.
“The unidentified gunmen beat my aged mother and girlfriend when they came,” he narrated.
