Following a heavy rainstorm experienced in many parts of Adamawa, Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri , has assured that communities cut off by the recent rainstorm would be reconnected with other parts of the state.
Late July and early August, many parts of the state recorded heavy rainfall, leading to flood as a result of several bridges that washed off.
Many houses in Yola South, Yola North were affected by the flood. Fintiri made the promise in a statement issued by Mr Humwashi Wonosikou, Press Secretary to the Governor on Monday in Yola.
He said assured that no stone would be left unturned toward reconnecting communities cut off from the rest of the state as a result of the heavy rainstorm.
The governor said he was disturbed by the damaged bridges especially those on Federal highway linking Michika and Madagali Local Government Areas in the northern part of the state. ”
Government will do everything possible to ensure that the bridges are reconstructed. ”
Particularly that of Madagali local government area which has been cut off completely with the collapse of the major bridge at Wurogayandi and will immediately receive intervention. ”
Because the rural communities are the growth engine of any state,” Fintiri said.
He said that the state government had been in collaboration with various agencies on enhancing its partnership with them and by extension, improve policy integration and coherence.
The governor appealed to the affected communities to exercise patience as government was doing everything possible to address their plights.
He said that the state government had already contacted the North East Development Commission and other relevant agencies on how to fix the bridges.
