Ahead of the 2021 governorship election in Anambra, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the days of merchandising with the party in the state are over.
The PDP National Vice Chairman, South East, Mr Austin Umahi, said this on Friday after an emergency Zonal Working Committee (ZWC) meeting of the party in Enugu.
Umahi appealed to all aggrieved members of the party in the state to sheath their swords and embrace peace as the zonal leadership of the party was determined to return it to winning ways during the election.
He called on all members of the National and State Assembly elected under the platform of the party in the state as well as other stakeholders to close ranks for the success of the PDP during the poll.
“While reiterating that the PDP is not zoning the governorship, we commend all governorship aspirants under our party for their mature politicising.
“We bring to them the assurances of our national chairman of a level playing field and the conduct of a most transparent primaries,” he said.
Umahi called on all PDP faithful in court for one reason or the other to withdraw such cases and avail themselves of internal conflict resolution mechanisms.
The national vice chairman assured such people that all complaints would be adequately attended to.
“We have resolved to win the election in Anambra. The PDP in Anambra remains one united family under the leadership of Mr Ndubisi Nwobu.
“The secretariat of the party at No. 1 Dr. Ezediegwu Rd., Udoka Housing Estate is the only one known to the party,” he said.
Umahi appealed to those fomenting trouble in the state chapter of the party to desist, adding “we shall be prepared to enforce all disciplinary processes to smoke them out.
“We affirm the expulsion of three officers of the party in Anambra as all constitutional processes were followed and presented to the ZWC,” he said.
