The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the  Inspector-General of Police,  Mr Mohammed Adamu to immediately insulate his personnel from politics, especially in the forthcoming Ondo and Edo states governorship elections.

The party made the call in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan on Sunday in Abuja. Ologbondiyan  called on the  I-G to immediately rein in his officers and  men to be on the side of the people, particularly in the two states governorship elections.

The party’s spokesman urged the I-G to instantly call the Ondo State Commissioner of Police,  Bolaji Salami, to order investigation into an alleged attack on the Ondo Deputy Governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi.

Ologbondiyan said that nothing could stop the imminent mass defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP across the country.

He condemned the Saturday’s alleged attack on Ajayi, saying such action had further spurred Nigerians in their irrevocable determination to abandon the” sinking” APC and move into the PDP.

Ologbondiyan said attempt to use the police to stop the Ondo deputy governor from leaving the APC was not a face-saving measure.

He said it was natural for the democrats in the APC to leave the ruling party with their supporters.“

It is imperative to state that this development is sparking jubilations in every corner and cranny across our country,” Ologbondiyan.

He cautioned the police and other security agents to note the tide and not allow themselves to be used as “pawns to fight an already lost battle against Nigerians.

”Ologbondiyan said Nigerians  were no longer ready to accept the kind of “atrocities” that characterised previous elections, including Nov. 16, 2019 Kogi state governorship election.
