Mr Sadiq Bello, the Assistant Inspected General of Police (AIG), in charge of Zone 1, Kano, has solicited for the support of the Kano Emirate Council, to enhance community policing in the state.
Mr Abdullahi Haruna, the Police Public Relations Officer, Kano Police Command, stated this in a statement on Saturday in Kano.
Haruna disclosed that the AIG made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, on Friday in Kano.
“In this era of Community Policing; officers and men of the zone will diligently work to respect human rights and rule of law in accordance with international best practices,” Bello was quoted as saying in the statement.
The AIG lauded the emir for the support and cooperation to the police.
In his response, Bayero thanked the AIG for the collaboration with traditional institutions to bring police closer to the people.
Bayero pleged the council support to enable the police discharge its constitutional mandate, protect lives and property in the state.
The emir further commended the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje, for his appointment as the chairman of the State Community Policing Advisory Committee (SCPAC).
The AIG was accompanied in the visit by CP Habu Ahmad and other senior police officers of the command in the state.
The Police Zone 1 command comprised Kano; Katsina and Jigawa States.
