Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Thursday, pledged continued commitment to safer and secured state.

Makinde made the promise during the inauguration of the expanded and refurbished State Security Control Room, the City Watch Project and the Oyo State Crime Alert Platform, at the headquarters of the state’s Security Trust Fund, Onireke, Ibadan.

The governor, who said the platform was a sustainable project that would usher in a safer Oyo state, stressed that it would enhance efforts toward tackle insecurity in the nooks and crannies of the state.

He also promised that his administration would continue to give adequate priority to the welfare of security agents in the state.

Makinde revealed that he didn’t support the initiative at the beginning but had a change of heart when he visited the site immediately he assumed office as the governor.

He thanked those that contributed to making the project a reality to usher in a safer Oyo state.

“For officers and men of the security agencies, we will continue to look after your welfare.

“I believe this is going to be well utilised.

“I look forward to us working together to expand this to our border points and also have the capacity to respond in a very timely manner to all kinds of criminal activities in the state.

“I give you the assurance of this administration’s support all the time,’’ Makinde said.

Earlier, Mr Fatai Owoseni, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, said the inauguration of the expanded and refurbished state security control room and the unveiling of the crime alert platform was a consolidation on the many achievements already recorded in the security sector.

Owoseni, who doubles as the Executive Secretary, Oyo State Security Trust Fund (OYSTF) commended the governor for prioritising the provision of adequate security in every nook and cranny of the state.
