The Management of  Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority (UBRBDA) has directed the former Managing Director of the organisation, Mr Abubakar Mu’azu to vacate office following expiration of his tenure.

Mr Murtala Modibbo, Director,  Human Resources of the Authority gave the directive in a letter made available to journalists on Monday in Yola.

Modibbo in the letter dated June 8, addressed to Mu’azu and the Board Chairman reminded the former that his tenure as managing director of UBRBDA elapsed on June 6.

The letter read ” Your appointment letter dated Jan. 16, 2017, for initial period of four years with effect from June 6, 2016 refers. ” I wish to also draw your attention to the circular issued by Secretary to the Government of the Federation dated Dec. 4, 2017 on end of tenure process for Heads of Extra Ministerial Departments, Directors, Commissions and government owned companies ”

The human resources boss said that before, records available showed that Mu,azu’s tenure ended on June 6, and that he should have under normal circumstances vacated office according to SGF’s circular.

He appealed to the authority’s board to intervene and forestall the challenges facing the organisation. Mu,azu however said that he was aware of the development and had received a letter from the  Human Resources Director on the need to vacation office.

The embattled Managing Director who spoke through Mr Isa Mbamba, the Information officer of the authority said that he was still in office waiting for his second tenure reappointment letter  from the Presidency.

“Yes, It is true, my tenure ended on June 6, and  I received a letter from Director, Human Resources reminding me of that. ” The reason I am still in office is that I am yet to receive a letter to vacate the office.

“Also, I’m waiting for my  reappointment letter  for a second tenure from the Presidency ” Mu,azu said.
