The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC), under the Chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere‑Ekun, at its 174th Plenary Session approved the elevation of 68 legal practitioners to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
Mr Kabir Akanbi, Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and Secretary of the LPPC, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
The rank of SAN is conferred as a mark of professional excellence upon legal practitioners who have demonstrated exceptional distinction either as advocates in the courts or as academics contributing significantly to the development of legal scholarship.
The statement restrained the conferees from publishing or encouraging advertisements, congratulatory messages, or goodwill notices related to their nomination or conferment as breaches may attract sanctions.
