The Delta government, on Friday, said it had discharged the index case and 10 other COVID-19 patients after testing negative twice.

The state Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, said in a statement issued in Asaba that the state had so far recorded four deaths from the virus.
He, however, disclosed that a new COVID-19 case had been recorded in the state.

Aniagwu said that the new case was a 29-year-old fruits seller in Agbor, Ika South Local Government area of the state, who tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday.

With this development, he said that the state now had 23 confirmed cases, with eight currently active, 11 discharged and four fatalities.

The commissioner said that government was doing everything possible to flatten the curve of the deadly virus in the state.

According to him, part of the gains of the lockdown is the low number of cases in the state, despite sharing boundaries with one of the states with high number of coronavirus.

Aniagwu urged the people of the state to see wearing of face masks in public places as their personal safety responsibility rather than merely doing it to obey government’s directives.

“Let me bring you the good news of the successful management and discharge of five of our COVID-19 patients, including our index patient.

“Yesterday (Thursday), we also recorded another case in Agbor, Ika South council area, with a 29-year-old fruit seller testing positive after having exhibited the symptoms of the virus.

“With this development, the state now has 23 confirmed cases of the virus, with eight active cases after successfully discharging 11 and with four fatalities.

“The state government is doing everything possible to flatten the curve, even as we urge our people to continue to obey the necessary protocols against the pandemic.
