Foundation donates relief materials to Iju Ishaga Central Mosque area residents

No fewer than 300 residents of Iju Ishaga Central Mosque area, Lagos metropolis have benefitted from Stop the Abuse Against Women and Children Foundation, a Non-Profit Organisation (NGO) relief foodstuff packages, distributed on Saturday.

Toyin Ndidi Taiwo-Ojo, the Coordinator, said the relief packages were given to about 200 vulnerable persons in Iju Ishaga and its environs.

The coordinator said the first food drive held on April 25 targeted about 100 widows and the elderly.

“Today is the second phase of the Covid-19 lockdown food distribution, and over 200 families benefitted from it because we have them in mind to cover their essential needs’’.

Taiwo-Ojo said the NGO which fights for the human rights of women and children, also provide legal, paralegal, medical and psychosocial trauma support to persons with such challenges.

According to her, `we distribute food items to the widows and vulnerable elders to complement the government’s efforts on palliative measures’.

Some of the beneficiaries thanked the donors for their gesture, calling on government and corporate bodies to emulate them.

A 67 year old widow her Mama Wale name commended the NGO for the gesture and urged government to always remember the elderly and less privileged in the society.
