Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, have prevented further bloody clashes among a Fulani family in Ikoroku area, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
This is contained in a press release signed by the Command spokesman, Babawale Afolabi and made available to newsmen in Ilorin, on Wednesday.
Afolabi said that according to the report from NSCDC Divisional office in Kaiama, the problem started after the death of one Alhaji Bello.
“After the death of Alhaji Bello, his younger brother took the dead man’s wife to marry, but the children of the deceased were not happy about it.
“They accused their uncle of having something to do with the death of their father,” he said.
The spokesman said that the children of late Alhaji Bello vowed to take back their mother from their uncle and it later turned to a bloody fight.
“The matter escalated and one Rabiu Aliyu was attacked with a cutlass.
“He sustained multiple injuries on his nose and started bleeding profusely,” he said.
Afolabi said that the operatives of the NSCDC in Kaiama got a distress call and rushed to the scene, to prevent further attack.
He said that the victim was rushed to Kaiama General hospital and was later transferred to University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.
The spokesman said that the assailant had been arrested and further investigation on the case continues.
