The Federal Government and United States of America say positive messaging and consensus building among Executive, Legislature and Judiciary are key to addressing security challenges in the country.
Both countries made the disclosure during the bilateral discussion between the US Ambassador to Nigeria; Mary Leonard, and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, SAN.
The two nations at the meeting held at the office of the Attorney General in Abuja on Tuesday emphasised the need for effective partnership in ensuring safe, secured and prosperous Nigeria.
According to the statement by Dr Umar Gwandu the Special Assistant to Malami on Media and Public Relations, both countries affirmed that laws are meant to achieve collective peace among the people.
They equally agreed that governance is about improving the welfare of the majority of the people, maintaining that holistic approach is needed in striking the balance between public interest and rights of individual citizens.
Malami expressed satisfaction with the support and mutual understanding between Nigeria and the US in the fight against corruption, repatriation of looted funds and extradition of people involved in terrorism financing.
Responding, the US Ambassador Mary Leonard expressed willingness and determination of the US to support Nigeria in the fight against insecurity.
