Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF) has partnered with Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) to develop Standards Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance HOCSF’s ongoing digitalisation work.
The HOCSF, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, made this known in a statement by Mr Abdulganiyu Aminu, Director Press and Public Relations, office of the HOCSF on Tuesday in Abuja.
SOPs are globally recognised as manuals that apply step-by-step instructions compiled by an organisation to assist its personnel perform their operational tasks accurately and effectively.
“Ahead of the launch of innovative Enterprise Content Management System, the office of the HOCSF, in collaboration with its private sector partner AIG, has completed the development of SOPs for all processes carried out in office of the HOCSF.
“We are pleased to announce that after a rigorous exercise of business process analysis and documentation, all 26 departments of the OHCSF have successfully developed SOPs for their processes.
“This is the first and fundamental step ahead of the digitalisation of the work at the office of HOCSF, which will mark the beginning of a new and exciting chapter for the Nigerian civil service, one that is driven by innovation and enhanced efficiency,” she said.
Also, Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman AIG, expressed readiness to work with the office of the HOCSF and to support the implementation of the ground-breaking digitalisation project with private sector expertise and funding.
“We would like to commend the office of the HOCSF department that worked diligently to develop the SOPs,” he said.
Aig-Imoukhuede also commended dedicated civil servants working with the AIG team to ensure the successful implementation of the Enterprise Content Management System at the office of the HOCSF.
According to him, the office of the HOCSF now has 26 sets of SOPs containing detailed instructions on procedures carried out by all its departments.
He noted that each business process had been risk-assessed, adding that proper control mechanisms have been put in place to ensure full compliance.
“With this milestone achieved, the office of the HOCSF is now working to introduce the development of SOPs service-wide.
“SOPs are globally recognised, aimed at achieving efficiency, quality output and uniformity of performance while reducing miscommunication and failure to comply with industry regulations, ” he noted.
