Gunmen abduct Edo Head of Service

The Child Protection Network (CPN), an NGO, has advised Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara to review his peace and dialogue initiative with bandits in order to improve the state’s security network.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Zamfara Coordinator of the network, Mr Bachiri Sarkin-Fulani, and made available to newsmen in Gusau on Monday.

Sarkin-Fulani, who condemned last Friday’s abduction of female students from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in the state, said the governor should seek for immediate and unconditional release of the victims.

“The culprits must unconditionally release their captives who should be safely renited with their parents, they must also be appropriately punished to serve as deterrent to others.

“The ugly trend of the terrorits must be stopped in order to save lives, properties as well as our educational sector,” he noted.

The coordinator called on the state government to reopen all schools closed following the kidnap of the female students, saying  governments should not give criminals an upper hand.

He however suggested that the schools should be returned to day so that the students can be sleeping at home.

He commended the efforts of Matawalle in trying to secure the release of the abductees, calling on citizens tomremain vigilant over any suspicious movement.
