Mrs Stella Omoigui, mother of a primary three pupil, of the recent Endsars’ protest stray bullet victim, on Monday in Benin, demanded a N50-million compensation for his 11 year’s old son, Master Osasu Omoigui.

The 62 years old mother told the Edo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry for victims of SARS and related abuses that her the life of her son was currently threatened by the damage done to his groin.

She said the little Osasu, who currently was unable to dress like every other normal child of his age, went about in wrapper wrapped around him to cover the pipe, the only means of passing out urine.

She told the panel that her son, a primary three pupil of Maria Christian Academy was hit by a stray bullet on his genital from police officers’ guns , who tried to disperse crowd during the EndSARS protest.

Omoigui, a petty trader told the panelists that the incident happened along Old road, Sapele road in Benin.

She said Osasu was on an errand for his father when the inccident happened.

She said though her son was later treated and discharged from the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH, “we have continued to spend money from my meagre resources on his treatment .

Mrs Omoigui said the little Osasu could only pass out urine through a fixed pipe on his abdomen, adding that the situation had forced him to be wrapped in wrappers instead of trousers.

She added that his condition had also forced him out from school.

She however,  pleaded with the panel to grant her son the sum of N50 million as compensation for the pains being suffered by him and also for his medical bills.

The mother appealed to the panel do all in its power to see that Osasu could have his life back.

Testiying before the panel, little Osasu, said he would like to be a medical doctor.

“I want to finish my education and become a medical doctor by the time I grow up.

“I am appealing to the government and every spirited individual to help me”, he said.

The chairman of Judicial Panel of Inquiry, Justice Ada Ehigiamusoe (rtd) said the child’s condition must be treated with prompt attention.

“I have a medical doctor in my team, looking at the young man, is about 11 years old, he is unable to dress properly like normal human being.

” We found him to be wrapped in wrappers and the medical doctor in my team, examined him and found that he is badly damaged in his genital region.

“And we have reviewed that, this calls for an emergency intervention.

“We will do the necessary things that will be required of us just like the state government has always done; matters of this nature must be treated promptly.

“If you recall, we had similar matters of about two of them, deaf and dumb, and promptly, the state government intervened.

“They did not even wait for us to make our final recommendations. So, I am sure with this, looking at the condition of the boy, so pathetic, and it is not the police, it is a stray bullet.

“It is one of those things, the consequences of that protest, we cannot really lay our hands on anybody but we will try our best to make adequate recommendations.

“So, we have reviewed instantly, and we have reviewed, that all of us, we have the combined view that it is meritorious, deserving compensation, he needs urgent medical attention. So, that is our stance, ” she said,
