The Police Command in Anambra has confirmed the arrest of one Onyebuchi Okocha, Founder of Children of Light Anointing Ministries, Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Haruna Mohammed confirmed the arrest in Awka on Thursday.

“Yes, we arrested Onyeze Jesus on Wednesday,” Mohammed stated in a social media chat with newsmen.

Okocha, popularly known as Prophet Onyeze Jesus, was arrested at his residence in Nkpor near Onitsha.

Although details of the arrest was not stated, the State Government had earlier in a statement few days ago, threatened to arrest the prophet for his style of religious activities.

The cleric, who many described as ‘fake’, had promised his followers that he would raise seven corpses from the mortuary of a government approved hospital in Nkpor on Thursday.

The claim forced the state ministry of health to warn that no hospital should open its morgue to the prophet.

Mr C-Don Adinuba, the state Commissioner for Information had earlier in a statement condemned the prophet for sending videos of adults bathing naked in a river on the internet.

The prophet, who was also seen in the video spraying money in the river, had claimed that he was washing bad luck out of them, to make them wealthy.

Adinuba wondered why the “fake prophet” would promote money rituals instead of industry, knowledge, ingenuity, perseverance, high savings rate and boisterous business drive which the people are known for.

“Anambra is a modern society governed by the rule of law, civilized values and proper conduct,” Adinuba said.
