The police in Yobe on Tuesday confirmed the release of Ibrahim Mohammed, Head of Kalalawa Village, Damaturu Local Government Area, who was abducted by unknown gunmen.
The Police Spokesman in the state, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim made the confirmation in Damaturu.
Abdulkarim said that Mohammed who was kidnapped in his Dusuuma home at about 1.15am on Tuesday, was abandoned in a nearby bush by his abductors.
He said that Mohammed’s wife and two of his children sustained gunshot injuries during the attack on their family.
“Six gunmen broke into the village head’s residence and started shooting sporadically, in the process, his wife and two of his children sustained injuries.
“They took him away and tied him with a rope. We suspect that they abandoned him and fled because they sighted our men who were deployed to search for him,” he said.
The police spokesman said that Mohammed and his family were already receiving treatment at a government hospital.
