The Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun, has empowered people of his constituency in Ifedore Local government area with various items to further make life meaningful for the downtrodden.
Oleyelogun presented the materials to beneficiaries on Thursday during the local government inauguration of Aketidatiwa 2020 campaign committee in Igbara-Oke.
Oleyelogun, representing Ifedore state constituency in the Assembly for the third time, posited that empowering his people was one of the ways of ensuring good representation.
He said that much more had been done in the past which would continue.
The Speaker said that apart from the empowerment, he had also trained and empowered no fewer than 1,000 people across Ifedore in various skills acquisition programmes, irrespective of their party affiliations.
He, therefore, called for community engagement and mobilisation for the re-election of Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu come Oct. 10, so as to consolidate on his numerous achievements.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the items distribute included cash gifts, motorcycles, grinding machines and freezers.
A beneficiary, Mr Taiwo Ajipe, commended the gesture of the Speaker and promised to make judicious use of the gifts to uplift his family.
The Speaker also received some politicians who cross-carpeted to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in the council area.
Oleyelogun congratulate the new members and promised that the party would give them a reasonable sense of belonging and they won’t be neglected in the scheme of party business.
Mr Muyiwa Olatunbosun, a member of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), in Isarun/Erigi ward, who spoke on behalf of others, said he joined the APC with his colleagues and promised to work tirelessly for the re-election of Akeredolu for a second term.
Olatunbosun said he joined the progressive team having seen the numerous achievements of the APC government in the last four years.
The Chairman of the Local government, Mr Alex Oladimeji, assured that the local government would vote overwhelmingly for the re-election of Akeredolu whom, he said, had performed excellently well in all sectors.
While assuring the new members of equal opportunities in the party, he enjoined the party faithful to engage in house-to-house campaign to ensure success at the polls.
Also, Mr Tobi Ogunleye, the Special Adviser to the governor on transport, stated that the good works of the governor would continue to speak for him in the coming election.
