Mr Solomon  Akwashiki, member representing Lafia Central Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has called on leaders at all levels to be just in their dealings.

Akwashiki, made the call on Tuesday at a one day Stakeholders Engagement/Town Hall Sensitisation Programme on Security Awareness, Human Rights and Get-Rich- Quick Syndrome in Lafia.

The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that the event was organised by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Nasarawa State.

Akwashiki, the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts said that justice, public trust and accountability would promote peace and development in the society as well as reduce social vices.

He appreciated the management of NOA for organising the programme, describing it as timely.

The lawmaker called on the stakeholders to step down the message to the grassroots.

“Leaders must be accountable to their subjects and shun discrimination among their followers.

“That is why as a representative of the people of Lafia Central Constituency, as a Christian, I appointed Muslims as my Personal Assistant  and Security aide,” he said.

He also called on the citizens to go back to the old culture of discipline, justice, religious and ethnic tolerance among others.

The lawmaker called on stakeholders to collaborate with the government to curtail insecurity in the state.

He also used the opportunity to commend Mr Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the state legislature for his all inclusive leadership in the state.

Akwashiki assured of the 7th Assembly’s commitment to continue to enact laws that would ensure peace and development in the state.

Earlier, The Nasarawa State Director of NOA Dr. Priscilla Gondoaluor, said that the event was organised to engage stakeholders on the need to promote peace, ethical values and development at all times.

Gondoaluor appreciated the lawmaker, security agencies, youths, and other personalities for their physical presence to honour the gathering. (NAN)
