Big Brother Naija Season 9, themed “No Loose Guard,” has kicked off with a bang. This year, the show introduced a unique twist by pairing up housemates, and the dynamics among these duos have been entertaining from the get-go.
We’ve seen the entry of fourteen dynamic duos, ranging from couples, friends, family, and even work buddies. The BB Naija Season 9 pairs are Zinwe, a couple that has been dating for five months, The Doublekays, a married couple posing as besties, Radicals gym bros who claim to be virgins, Ndi Nne, an aunt and niece duo, Floruish friends who have been together for 10 years; Tami, another best friend duo, Aces colleagues turned friends, Streeze another friendship duo who have promised to bring the rizz and the steeze. Beta friends and business partners who bonded over their shared love for the show, Wanni x Handi identical twins and DJs, Mbadiwe Twins another twin pair, Shatoria duos who met at the airport in Dubai and have been friends for a year, Nelita best friend duo, and Chekas sisters and best friends.
The competition kicked off immediately after the live show as Big Brother introduced the first challenge, “The Custodian Challenge.” The “Ndi Nne” pair emerged victorious, securing immunity from this week’s eviction and a mysterious card granting them influence over nominations or evictions. The card will be revealed on Sunday, so tune in to find out.
The first head-of-house game took place on Monday. Each pair was asked to cast a vote for their preferred HoH, which led to a tie between the “Mbadiwe Twins” and the “Radicals.” The custodians were asked to break the tie, and they chose the “Mbadiwe Twins” for the Head of House position. However, one surprising twist this season is that the Head of House will no longer enjoy immunity.
Immediately after the HoH games, Big Brother announced an immunity challenge. The “Beta” pair won, securing their safety from eviction, thereby making all housemates, apart from the custodians “Ndi Nne”and the immunity challenge winner “Beta,” up for eviction.
In the usual Big Brother Naija fashion, the housemates are also facing their first wager task. The housemates have been tasked with giving a presentation on who they are as individuals and who they are as a pair through drama, music, dance, poetry, spoken words, or painting. To make things more interesting, Biggie also added impromptu performances throughout the week until their wager task presentation. He’ll play a particular song or sound at intervals, and the housemates have to dance or mimic the sound. Their performance will be considered when awarding their wager.
