The journey to crown the next idol on Nigeria’s music reality show, Nigerian Idol, has reached its peak as the grand finale is scheduled for this Sunday. This season has been a rollercoaster of emotions, marked by unforgettable performances and intense competition. As the ninth season of the show draws closer to its climax, anticipation is at an all-time high.

This Sunday, viewers across Nigeria will witness the crowning of the next Nigerian Idol. The top three finalists – Chima, Lammy, and Chioma – have delivered outstanding performances, earning their spots in this final showdown. Their journey has been characterized by growth, resilience, and an unwavering passion for music, supported by millions of Nigerians whose votes have kept them on the show until the final.

Throughout the season, fans have enjoyed a diverse array of musical genres from the contestants. The judges, including music industry icons Ric Hassani, 9ice, and Omawumi, along with guest judges Pheelz, MI Abaga, Obi Asika, and Ice Prince, have provided insightful critiques and encouragement, helping to shape and nurture these budding stars.

A major highlight in the last episode was the introduction of a judges’ contest, where each judge earned points for every contestant who performed a song from their recommendations. Ric Hassani emerged as the winner of this contest, earning the power to save one of the bottom two contestants. His save allowed Chioma to compete in the finale for the coveted crown.

“We are thrilled to see such incredible talent and dedication from our contestants this season,” said Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and Channels at Multichoice West Africa. “Nigerian Idol has once again proven to be a platform that not only entertains but also unearths the rich musical talent our country has to offer. We look forward to an electrifying finale.”

As the finale approaches, the top three will grace the stage one last time and perform, competing for the title of Nigerian Idol.
