The National Park Service on Friday pulled out the Assistant Conservator General (ACG) Dr Agboola Okeyoyin after years of meritorious service to the father land.

The colourful event which was held at the National Park Service Headquarters in Abuja attracted dignitaries, friends and family members who came to rejoice with the retired senior officer.

Okeyoyin, who in his valedictory speech thanked the Almighty God for sparing his life to serve his fatherland, urged young officers of the service to learn from their predecessors.

He advised them to be united as they go about discharging their duties in the service.

He advised serving officers and men of the service to continue to be loyal and continue to demonstrate total commitment to duty as exemplified in successes recorded so far at the service.

.
Dr Ibrahim Goni, the Conservator General (CG) of the Service in his speech commended Okeyoyin for his doggedness and hard work while he was in service, acknowledging that he would be greatly missed.

He, therefore, charged the officers of the service to leave good legacies.

The CG said that the legacy a man leaves behind whether good or bad will speak for him.

“Let us therefore strive to leave good legacies so that our successors will be proud of us when we are no more in the service,” he said.

Goni described life as transient saying that indeed everything has its own time and season.

“Life has given us another opportunity to take stock of who we are, what we’ve done and what we will do,” he said.

He equally said that the service will establish a body consisting of former Conservators General, Assistant Conservators of Parks and other veterans that will play an advisory role in the nation’s biodiversity conservation.

“It has become necessary to harness the experiences gained by these veterans as the service has continued to expand following the creation of more national parks in the country”, Goni said.

A former Conservator General, Alhaji Abdulahi Hussain expressed joy that the National Park had experienced significant growth and improved standards.
