Ambassador Patricia Amogu, a Correspondent with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has been elected Public Relations Officer (PRO), Nigerian Journalists for Climate Action Network, NIJOCAN, on Thursday.
Amogu, was elected alongside other officials of NIJOCAN at a two-day Stakeholders meeting at Keffi, Nasarawa State.
A communique signed by the newly elected Chairman, said that the Director, DCC, Dr. Iniebong Abiola-Awe declared the meeting open.
Abiola-Awe, represented by the Deputy Director, GHG, Mrs. Victoria Pwol, commended the efforts of the development partners, for their support towards ensuring that Nigeria’s unconditional commitment to reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 47% by 2030 is achieved.
According to the communique, members of the network agreed to play their roles in the collaborative reporting project with the EU-NCCRP by highlighting creative and promising innovations adopted by the Nigerian government to tackle climate change issues.
“That NIJOCAN has developed a template for it’s 12-month Action Plan highlighting actionable storylines with specific thematic areas on climate change and it’s response.
The communique said that NIJOCAN will drive the course towards mitigation and adaptation to climate change activities in the country while reporting, thereby bringing to the public space more awareness on Climate
