COSMOS AUTOMATION: a new dawn in agricultural technology

Cosmos Automation is a tech startup playing in the hardware space, founded by two recent graduates of University of Nigeria with a mission to solve the problems that farmers, SMEs and households face in performing stressful, repetitive and time-wasting tasks with automated solutions.

Cosmos Automation has two products to its name, the Altor which is an automatic changeover, a surge protector and a generator stopper.

Altor helps households, offices and farmers automatically switch between utility power and generator without human intervention. Additionally, the Altor also switches OFF the generator as soon as utility power is restored while also protecting the home and office appliances from high voltage surge.

The iManager provides water to the crops through drip irrigation kits at regular intervals as scheduled by the farmer and draws energy from the sun to power the irrigation.

The flexibility of the iManager also allows it to make use of gravity-based irrigation by supplying water from overhead tanks. The most interesting innovation with the iManager comes in the form of preventing scheduled irrigation from occurring when it has rained to ensure water conservation and sending prompt SMS notifications to farmers on irrigation activity.

Cosmos Automation has raised about three million Naira pre-seed money from various grants and is about closing another funding round to enable it fund its operations.

Cosmos Automation is building a large distributor network nationwide to ensure that customers can get Altor easily in their localities and is also looking to enter partnerships with financial institutions and interested Investors that can provide credits to farmers to purchase the iManager kit and pay instalments to reduce the initial setup cost.
