Oyo State government has ordered people illegally occupying its property to vacate or face the wrath of the law.
The Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr Segun Olayiwola, gave the order on Wednesday when he visited some of government Reserved areas (GRAs) in Ibadan metropolis.
Olayiwola disclosed that the state government was already carrying out holistic assessment of GRAs in Ibadan with a view to commencing proper planning and development.
According to him, government is already putting measures in place to commence the development of undeveloped GRAs in Ibadan, the state capital.
“This is part of the Gov. Seyi Makinde-led administration’s efforts to provide affordable housing for the increasing population in the state,” he said.
The commissioner maintained that government’s commitment towards urbanising Ibadan city to a 21st century standard remained unwavering.
He added that critical infrastructure of a modern society being put in place by the present administration was strategic and deliberate.
Among the places visited by the commissioner were Lere Adigun GRA, behind Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) in Bashorun, Omololu Olunloyo GRA and Rashidi Ladoja GRA on Ibadan-Lagos expressway, covering about 100 hectares of land.
According to him, the facility provider in charge of Ladoja GRA will soon move to site.
The commissioner, while addressing residents of Ajia community in Ona-Ara Local Government, said government had made adequate provision for proper relocation of the community market to allow for development of the site to a modern residential area.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Ademola Ajibola, and other top government officials were on the commissioner’s visitation team.
