Gunmen who abducted Mr Ebenezer Busuyi, an APC chieftain and Local Government Supervisor in Ekiti State have reached out to the family, demanding N15m ransom as condition to set him free.
This was coming three days after he was kidnapped while on transit in the state.
Busuyi, a Supervisor for Agriculture, in Ekiti West local government area of the state, was kidnapped on Thursday evening along the Ilawe-Erinjiyan Ekiti road by the gunmen.
He was kidnapped while driving in his personal car along the route, and taken to an unknown destination.
A family source who would not want to be mentioned, told newsmen in Ado Ekiti on Sunday that the abductors called on Saturday night to demand the amount before he could secure freedom.
“The kidnappers called his wife to demand for N15 million as ransom and we are still pleading with them to reduce it.
“It is really a difficult situation for the family, ” the source said.
But when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, in Ekiti Command, ASP Sunday Abutu, said he was not aware of the ransom being demanded by the gunmen.
He said rather, police operatives , in company with Amotekun Corps and local hunters are still intensifying efforts in the Ilawe-Erinjiyan forest, in search of the kidnapped local government official.
