Police confirm 10 killed in bandits’ attack in Sokoto

The Rivers State Police command on Thursday paraded one Mr Favour Belema, a father of four children for allegedly drugging, raping and robbing young ladies after luring them with enticing promises on social media.

SP. Nnamdi Omoni, the spokesperson of the command, while parading the suspect disclosed that he lures his female victims on social media with mouth watery promises and allegedly drug them after which he will rape and cart away all their belongings.

Omoni stated that the suspect was arrested when he was spotted at a popular supermarket at Ada George, Port Harcourt  by one of his recent victims who raised alarm that attracted passersby who apprehended and handed him over to the Police.

He revealed that his modus operandi is the same with the serial killer but only that he does not kill his victims.

Omoni disclosed that the command has deployed technical intelligence to recover the items he carted from the ladies while investigation is ongoing.

Some of the victims who spoke to Newsmen explained that after days of chatting with him on social media, he books a date with them in a hotel where he drugs their food and after they consume the food they will fall asleep only to wake up to discover that he slept with them and made away with all their belongings.

Two of the victims revealed that he transferred 135,000 and 185,000 naira respectively from their phones.

The suspect in an interview  with journalists denied the allegations, explaining that he chatted one Blessing up on Social media and the lady agreed to have sex with him if he pays 20,000 naira.

Belema disclosed that after they ate and had sex the lady who has smoked ‘weed’ slept off and he left her without paying her the agreed money.

Furthermore, Mrs Susan Serekara-Nwikhana, the Chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists(NAWOJ), Rivers chapter, condemned the act and called on the security agents to bring the perpetrator to book.

Serekara-Nwikhana, advised women, especially young girls within the ages 19-35, who are gullible to the antics of serial rapists to be weary of social media relationships and begin to scrutinise the kind of men they interact with.

“We are calling on the Rivers State Police Command to ensure that this Mr.Favour Belema and his cohorts, who have swindled more than10 girls and are still out there deceiving more women and taking advantage of them are brought to justice.

Similarly, Bar.Yvonne Aimiegheme a representative of International Federation of Women Lawyers(FIDA) tasked the Police to ensure a thorough investigation and justice on the matter.
