Justice Peter Kekemeke of a FCT High Court sitting in Nyanya on Monday, ordered that one Inspector Johnson Samanja be remanded in Correctional centre over alleged culpable homicide.
Samanja, 51 was arraigned in court by the police on a one-count charge bordering on culpable homicide.
The judge ordered that he should be remanded after he took his plea and no proper application bail filed before him by the defendant counsel, George Ukaegbu.
“The defendant shall be remanded in the correctional centre until the next adjourned date,”he ordered.
He then adjourned the hearing of the matter until June 1.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Okokon Udo, had told the court that the defendant committed the offense on October 3, 2020 at Dutse Apo village, FCT, Abuja
He alleged that while armed with a police licensed gun shot at a 19- year-old Samson Jonah on his chest, which led to his death, contrary to Section 221 of the Panel Code.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the allegation levelled against him.
