Boko Haram: COAS order special force to clear Marte, Chukun Gudu, others within 48 hours

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru has directed special forces in Dikwa town of Borno to clear elements of boko haram around Marte, Chukun Gudu, Krenoa and Kirta-Wulgo villages within 48 hours.

Attahiru issued the directive on Saturday while addressing troops at the Army Super Camp in Dikwa the headquarters of Dikwa Local Government Area.

The COAS who is on operational visit to Borno over recent onslaught on the insurgents, assured the troops of necessary support to effectively discharge their assigned task, and urged them not to let the nation down.

“This afternoon, I came to visit you in army Super Camp 9. I bring you very special greetings from the President and Commander in Chief Of the Armed Forces.

“I present myself as your Chief of Army Staff to get to meet you, you get to know me as well. The essence of these visit is operational..

“In the last few days, we have had attacks  in your area of responsibilities. It is now right time we get back and fight.

“Areas around Marte, Chukun Gudu, Krenoa, upto Kirta Wulgo must be cleared in the next. 48 hours.

“You are rest assured of all the support required in this very onerous task,” Attahiru said.

The COAS said that he had been briefed of their challenges such as overstay by some personnel and would soon address that.

The COAS also address civilians in Dikwa where he assured them of safety and the Army commitment to contain the insurgency.
