The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has arrested four persons in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, murder and destruction of farmlands and property at Sanusi village in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Addressing newsmen on Saturday in Akure, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, the corp commander, said the suspects, who were arrested within one hour of a joint operation, would be handed over to the appropriate security agency for prosecution.
Some hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers, illegal miners, and herdsmen, allegedly killed a farmer and a member of vigilante group in the area recently.
The suspected hoodlums were also said to have set farmlands on fire and destroyed properties, including a vehicle belonging to Amotekun. Adeleye, who said the arrest was carried out with the collaboration of the Nigerian Army and the Police, explained that the crossfire between the hoodlums and the security operatives lasted for over an hour.
The commander presented Mr Sesan Adebayo- Otapo, the operative that was rumored to have been killed during the operation, to newsmen and cautioned the media to be factual in their reportage.
While explaining that the existing curfew on motorcycles in the state from 6 pm to 6 an was still in effect, Adeleye said that his men would start its enforcement on Monday.
“We are warning motorcyclists to desist from moving about from 6pm. Anybody caught will have himself to blame.
“Our men will be out from Monday to ensure strict compliance with the curfew.
