A 42-year-old businessman, Olayinka Oyeniyi, on Monday told an Igando Customary Court in Lagos State that his wife was a public dog.
Oyeniyi said this when he was responding to the suit filed by his wife, Sekinat, who had accused him of impregnating another woman.
“My wife is wayward and adulterous, she moves around in the community messing up herself.
“She had the guts to invite her lover to my brother’s wedding.
“When I asked her who the man was? She said he was her friend’s husband.
“She (Sekinat) is presently living with that same man, she packed out of my house with our children in March 18, 2020.”
Oyeniyi told the court that her mother encouraged and supported her in her adulterous act.
“Her mother is her backbone, she does not see anything wrong in her daughter’s adulterous behavior.
“I once told her that it is wrong for a mother to know the husband and also the concubine of her daughter.”
The respondent added that his wife was always threatening him with dangerous weapons.
“There was a day she wanted to bath me with hot water, I quickly collected it from her.
“Again, when she wanted to stab me with a bottle, I escaped.”
According to him, Sekinat has lack of respect for me that she always disobeys my orders, rained curses and uses abusive words on me.
“Sekinat also denies me access to the children.
“When my wife and I were still living together, the children attended good private school but now that she has packed to her lover’s house, she enrolled them in public school.
“My children cannot be living with another man when I am still alive, she should bring them back to me, I will train and feed them as I did before”.
He told the court to grant his wife’s prayer for the dissolution of their marriage, adding that he was also tired of the union.
The petitioner, Sekinat had approached the court to end her 10-year-old marriage accusing husband of impregnating a girl.
“I got to know that he impregnated a girl when she came to the house one day fighting him that he abandoned her.”
The 41-year-old hairdresser accused her husband of threatening her life by beating her to the point of bleeding which had landed her in hospital on two occasions.
“Due to the frequent beatings, I packed out of his house with the children because I may not be lucky next time he beats me.”
The mother of three said that her husband was a drunk, saying that most a time he comes home drunk and will start misbehaving.
She begged the court to terminate the marriage that she no longer love her husband.
The President of the court, Mr Adeniyi Koledoye, adjourned the case until March 3 for judgment.
