Gunmen abduct Edo Head of Service

Some suspected gunmen have attacked the palace of Otu of Igarra in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo, killing one Lakum Emah.

Gfhnews reports that the residents of the community are living in fear following the attack.

An eye witness told Newsmen that the incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Monday , while they were sitting outside the palace.

“I am one of their victims but God saved me from their hands.

“We were sitting outside my father’s house with my brothers and friends, we saw some gunmen about 13 of them came out from different corners.

“And in an attempt to run away they shot at us which led to the death of Lakum Emah,” he said.

The Otu of Igarra, Akpeji Mayaki said that the killing was related to a disagreement at the Ekuochi festival at the village square by the two masquerades (old and new) which belong to the two factions in the community.

Mayaki said that the matter had been reported to the Igarra Division Police, adding the DPO with his team had visited the scene of the incident.

The uncle to the deceased, Mr Samuel Emah called for proper investigation to unravel the killing of Emah.

“We know the people who are responsible for the death of Lakum Emah.

“All I can say is, we are seeking for justice to the death of my brother’s son, Lakum Emah,” he said.

However, when the Edo Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Chidi Nwanbuzor was contacted on the matter, he said that the command was not aware of the situation.

“We don’t have that report yet at our command, I will have to get across to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Igarra on this development,’’ he said.
