Insecurity: Army seeks synergy among heads of security agencies in Ondo

The Nigerian Army has taken over the premises of the Edo City Transport Service (ECTS) to forestall possible breakdown of law and order in the state owned transport firm.

Our correspondent, who monitored the situation at the firm following the protest by staff on Monday, observed that the gate to the premises was under lock and key with the buses packed inside.

The members of staff that were not in their uniform were seen loitering around.

Aside the issue of non remittance of their pension funds, the staff also called for sack of the Managing Director, Mrs Edugie Agbonlahor over non-payment of their two months’ salary and stagnation in office.

However, Agbonlahor debunked the claims noting that the protest carried out by the members of staff was just meant to whip up sentiment.

She said that some staff were sanctioned for running their private transport line within the company.

She called on the members of the public to disregard their claims.

The non-availability of the buses on the roads has made transport system very difficult in the metropolis as passengers jostled for other public buses to get to their destinations,” our Correspondent noted.
