APC wins 27 chairmanship seats, 312 councillors in Borno LG elections

Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC) has declared the results of Saturday’s Local Government elections with the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning all the 27 Chairmanship seats and all the 312 Councillor positions.

Declaring the results on Monday in Maiduguri, the Executive Chairman of BOSIEC, Alhaji Abdu Usman said 19 APC chairmen emerged unopposed while eight defeated their opponents at the poll to emerge winners.

Usman said APC candidates defeated their opponents in Askira/Uba, Chibok, Jere, Konduga, Ngala, Kwaya–kusar, Maiduguri Metropolitan and Monguno Local Government Areas.

Usman listed local governments where APC candidates emerged chairmen and councillors unopposed as Abadam, Bama, Bayo, Biu, Damboa, Dikwa, Gubio, Guzamala, Gwoza, Hawul, Kaga, Kala- Balge, Kukawa, Mafa, Magumeri, Marte, Mobbar, Nganzai and Shani.

Usman said six political parties Comprising African Democratic Congress (ADC), Accord Party,  All Progressives Congress (APC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) participated in the elections, adding that so far the commission did not receive any complaints on conduct of the elections from the political parties involved.

“I therefore, on behalf of the commission sincerely thank all the security agencies and other stakeholders for their support and commitment toward the conduct of the elections.

“I wish to particularly thank the Returning Officers and other election personnel for their zeal and commitment towards the conduct of the elections.
