The Katsina State Government says it is spending the sum of N1.9 billion on the construction of 200 housing units near the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina.
The Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Alhaji Tasiu Dahiru-Dandagoro, made the disclosure during a press briefing on Thursday in Katsina.
He said that the houses comprised of 2 bedrooms, as well as, 3 bedrooms flat with kitchen and other facilities.
Dahiru-Dandagoro said that when completed, the houses would be allocated to people at affordable rate.
He said the project is part of the administration’s determination to assist people to own shelter for its important in human life.
According to him, the Katsina State Road Maintenance Agency (KASROMA) is now laying out roads between the houses in the estate.
He also said that the government spent N805.9 million on the rehabilitation and upgrading of Funtua Central Motor Park and Market.
Dahiru-Dandagoro revealed that 570 new shops were constructed to enhance business activities in the area.
The Commissioner also said that the government has spent N1.1 billion on the purchase of 25 new buses for the State Transport Authority (KTSTA)
He explained that the buses included 30-seater and 15-seater buses.
Dahiru-Dandagoro said that was aimed at enhancing transportation system, which would also assist to generate revenue of the state.
He pointed out that all the projects were executed from the inception of the administration in 2015 to date.
