A former Military Administrator of Sokoto State, Brig.- Gen Yakubu Mu’azu (Rtd), has admonished cadets of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) who will pass out on Oct. 10, to confine themselves to assigned constitutional duties as they await presidential commissioning. Mu’azu gave the advice at the Commandant’s luncheon organised in honour of the passing out cadets of 67 Regular Course and Short Service Course 46, held at the Academy House, in Kaduna on Saturday. Mu’azu who was the special guest of honour, enjoined the 779 cadets continue to remain focused, disciplined, level headed, as the next few days are the most critical in their quest for presidential commissioning. He advised them to focus totally and wholeheartedly in doing assigned duties in order to endear themselves to their superiors, while inspiring their subordinates. The former military administrator urged the cadets to continually strive to solidly and progressively build on their initial training at the NDA, to enable them reach the pinnacle of their career. He particularly advised them to attend all mandatory courses and utilise any opportunity to develop themselves. Mu’azu also cautioned the cadets to avoid anything or any interest group that would divert them into engaging in  trivialities. Earlier, Commandant of the Academy, Maj.-Gen. Jamil Sarham explained that the launcheon was aimed at providing avenues for the cadets to come together with officers and civilian staff of the academy and freely mix in a conducive atmosphere. He maintained that the gathering presents the cadets, the opportunity to learn from the experiences of instructors and guests. Sarham added that the event was also to draw the NDA training year to a close, which would be climaxed by the passing out parade on Oct. 10. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report that the event had in attendance serving and retired senior officers, as well as staff of the Academy and their spouses.
