Coronavirus: Gov Ikpeazu says he's stable after testing positive

Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia on Tuesday inaugurated a 1.5 MVA Injection Sub-Station procured and installed for the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia (BCA) to enhance information dissemination in Abia.

Speaking during the event in Umuahia, Ikpeazu said that the sub-station would enable BCA function optimally and help to improve access to information in the state.

He said power  was  key to  success  in the business of broadcasting, adding that this informed the decision of Abia government to provide the sub-station.

Ikpeazu commended the management of the corporation for its efforts in disseminating information and serving as platform for the execution of the state government’s Television/Radio classroom programs for children in Abia.

He urged the management of BCA and the host community to protect the facility against vandalisation in order for the sub station to serve the purpose for which it was acquired and installed.

The governor  said that he was delighted that the project had eventually become a reality and urged the management of BCA to use the facility wisely.

Earlier, Mr Anyaso Anyaso, the Director General of BCA, described the event as historic, adding that the facility would impact significantly in the corporation’s service delivery in the days ahead.

Anyaso said  that power was an essential element in the survival of broadcasting ventures.

He noted that  the world had been badly hit by COVID-19 pandemic and there was need for continuous campaign against COVID-19 by BCA and others.

Anyaso said BCA had been running with diesel powered generators for almost 30 years  and expressed gratitude to the state government for the sub-station.

According to him, the installation of the  power supply facility has enabled the station to recover its lost broadcast hours during the day and extend its broadcast time to 12 midnight daily.

“What the Abia government  has done is like a life insurance policy that will certainly herald the re-emergence of a broadcast industry giant,”,he said.

Gov. Ikpeazu   held an interactive session on BCA Radio with the people of Abia as part of activities lined up to mark the inauguration of the sub-station.
