A Magistrates’ Court in Ile-Ife, Osun on Tuesday, ordered that a 30-year-old man, Adebowale Gboye, who allegedly abducted and defiled a 13-year-old girl, be remanded in a correctional facility. The police charged Gboye with two counts of abduction and defilement. Magistrate A.A. Ayeni adjourned the case until Aug 13, pending hearing in bail application.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 24, around 4 p.m. at Ogbon- Agbara Street, Ile-Ife.
Abdullahi alleged that the defendant forcefully took the minor out of her parents house and defiled her.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 218 and 225 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Defence Counsel, Mr E.F. Adeojo, prayed the court to admit his client to bail in most Liberal term.
Adeojo assured the court that his client would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.
