The All Progressives Congress (APC) North East Zonal Executive Committee has endorsed the nomination of Waziri Bulama as national secretary of the party.
This was disclosed by Mustapha Salihu, the party’s National Vice Chairman Northeast after a closed-door meeting in Gombe on Saturday.
Salihu said the nomination which was part of the resolution from the meeting would be forwarded to the National Executive Committee of the party for ratification.
He also stated that Abubakar Musa was also nominated for Zonal Youth leader of the party.
Salihu said the meeting also featured discussions on issues bothering the zone with regard to the unity and reconciliation within the rank and file of the party.
He added that the meeting also provided an avenue for governors and national assembly members from the zone to discuss on ways to ensure that the people of the zone get the dividends of democracy.
“We also resolved to work assiduously with President Muhammadu Buhari to see how to overcome insecurity and also the spread of COVID-19,” he said.
While dismissing the insinuation that the meeting was connected to the 2023 general elections, Salihu said the meeting was to galvanize and have synergies among the members of the zone towards delivering good governance.
The Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State and his counterparts from Borno and Yobe were also present at the meeting.
