The widow of coronavirus whistleblower Li Wenliang gave birth to the late doctor’s son in a Wuhan, China, hospital early on Friday.
Li, 34, tried to issue the first warnings about what was later termed COVID-19 when he treated some of the earliest cases in early January, but was silenced by Chinese authorities.
He later contracted the virus and died in February, setting off a wave of public anger that prompted the government to exonerate Li and officially declare him a “martyr.”
“Husband, can you see this from heaven,” Li’s widow, Fu Xuejie wrote in online post on Friday. “The final gift you gave me was born today.
