It was joy and celebration among members of the Niger Delta Intelligent Assessment Group (NDIAG) over answered prayers Thursday.
This followed the discharge from hospital of the man they have described as a detribalised nationalist, His Royal Majesty, Dr Umar Farouk Umar, Emir of Daura from hospital. The chairman of the group's Solidarity and Goodwill Committee, Professor Inah Eteng Okon, while chatting with journalists, said the organisation is happy that God has fulfilled His promise during their fasting and prayer session held on 6th May, 2020 that He would not let NDIAG down but would restore the Emir's health. According to Prof. Okon who is a senior lecturer at the University of Calabar, we are grateful to God for granting the Emir quick recovery after taking ill and receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina, where he spent nine days. He disclosed to newsmen that the small party was thrown to express joy over God's grace and mercies, which enabled him to recover from ill-health and putting the devil to shame. The scholar hinted that the supreme king took ill on 5th May, and returned to his residence upon being certified to be hale and hearty. Okon said with the Emir's health now restored, God has provided a window for the sustenance of his role as a major national bridge-builder in Nigeria. Prof. Okon also prayed God to grant the respected Emir the gift of longevity in view of his tireless and quality contributions and sacrifices towards the reign of peace and the emergence of a better Nigeria.
