Enugu State Government says it has paid the April salaries of all public servants in the state as well as COVID-19 allowance of all health workers.

The Secretary to the State Government, Prof Simon Ortuanya made the disclosure in a statement he issued in Enugu on Friday.

Ortuanya said that the move was to cushion the effect of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown on the citizens.

The SSG explained that the COVID-19 allowance represented 25 per cent of the health workers basic salaries as recently approved by the State Executive Council.

He said the gesture would serve as incentive to the beneficiaries as they complied with government’s directives for the containment of COVID-19 in the state.
