The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunny, cloudy, and thundery activities across the country from Tuesday to Thursday.

According to NiMet Weather Outlook released on Monday in Abuja, the northward pull of the inter-tropical discontinuity showed moisture influx into the country, reaching most parts of the North.

It further said there would be thunderstorm over some central cities and in the inland and coastal regions.

“For Tuesday, in the morning, the North is expected to be partly cloudy with intervals of sunshine.

“Localised thundery activity is anticipated over the North-West to affect parts of Southern Sokoto, Yelwa, and Gusau and thunderstorms over parts of Bauchi, Gombe, and Taraba during the afternoon and evening periods.

“Partly cloudy to sunny skies are expected over the central cities in the morning with prospects of afternoon thunderstorm activities to affect places like Ilorin, Niger, Abuja, Northern Nasarawa, Jos, Adamawa, and Mambilla Plateau.

“Partly cloudy to cloudy condition is anticipated over inland areas of the South in the morning.

“However, during (the) afternoon and evening periods, residents of South West inland areas are expected to experience localised thunderstorm,’’ the weather forecast said.

According to it, cloudiness is envisaged over coastal cities during the morning period with light intensity of thunderstorm over the region during the afternoon and evening hours.

NiMet also forecast partly cloudy to cloudy condition over the entire Northern region in the morning hour of Wednesday, with possibilities of thundery activities over parts of the North East such as Southern Borno, Southern Jigawa, Southern Yobe, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe later in the day.

According to the agency, partly cloudy to cloudy skies arec envisaged over the central cities in the morning, with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over the central cities to affect parts of Mambilla Plateau, Jos, Abuja, Minna, Ilorin, Kaduna, Lafia, and Yola.

It further predicted cloudy morning over inland areas and better prospect of thunderstorms over the entire region during the afternoon/evening.
NiMet envisaged possibilities of morning thunderstorms over the South West coast places like Ijebu-Ode, Ondo, Ogun and Yenegoa leaving the South East coast in cloudy conditions.

It further envisaged thunderstorm over the entire coastal states during the afternoon and evening hours.

“For Thursday, partly cloudy to cloudy condition is expected over the Northern region with chances of localised thunderstorm over the North Eastern region, especially in areas like Southern Borno in the afternoon and evening periods.

“Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are expected over the central cities in the morning, while in the afternoon and evening periods, thunderstorms are expected over the high ground areas of the central cities as well as Mambilla Plateau.

“Cloudy conditions should prevail over the inland and coastal cities in the morning.

“As the day progresses, thunderstorms are anticipated over the entire inland and coastal cities during the afternoon and evening periods,’’ the agency said in the weather report.
