Mr Timothy Owoeye, the Speaker of Osun House of Assembly, has urged the Christian faithfuls and Nigerians to keep hope alive in spite the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Owoeye in an Easter message on Saturday said that the end of the world was not yet here with the outbreak of Coronavirus.

He urged well meaning individuals in the country not to leave the gesture of bringing succour to lives of the vulnerable Nigerians.

He said that in the spirit of the symbolic resurrection of Christ, Nigerians need to come together to support the government.

“Adhere to stay-at-home order so as to contain the spread of COVID-19 by ensuring that all laid down precautionary measures are followed to the letter,” Owoeye said in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Alabi,.

Owoeye noted that COVID-19, like every other pandemics that had ravaged the world in the past, would come and go.

He notedsaid there is no temptation that had seized humans that God had not created a way of escape.

Quoting from 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, the Speaker said: “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

“So, we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

He added: “We should let the significance of Easter reflect in our relationship with one another.

“We should not leave or limit the provision of palliatives to cushion in the effect of COVID-19 to government and politicians alone.

“There is no doubt that these are tough times, but we must keep hope alive that life will be better and that this trying period too shall pass.”
